Do you struggle with regular Yoga or have not tried Yoga because you cannot get up and down?
Have you heard of chair yoga? Chair yoga is a gentle practice and is suitable for everyone, including those with limited mobility, with injuries. It is a series of specially adapted Hatha yoga postures, modified to the individual’s needs. Included are seated and standing (for those that can) postures.
All exercises are breath led movements which help to calm mind and body.
Classes also include relaxation and mindfulness/ meditation exercises.
What are the benefits of chair yoga? It helps to develop strength, mobility and balance. It helps to improve breathing and calms the body and mind. Also, as it’s a group class it’s a great way of meeting people and making new friends.
Everyone welcome to this class if you cannot manage regular yoga classes, have health issues, in recovery, have injury, or struggle with balance, standing or even getting up and down no matter age or previous ability.
Come and experience chair yoga for yourself. And because here at Yoga Place we believe yoga is inclusive and is accessible to all, you don’t need expensive yoga gear, or to be a contortionist. All you’ll need are comfy clothing and maybe a cushion or a blanket and a willing to give it a try.
